About the Boom Ready founder

 

Mary Harrison Mary Harrison has dedicated her life to working with seniors and their families.  From the time she was a little girl Mary loved spending time with older adults.  She would spend hours playing Bingo with her 90 plus year old great grandfather Alfred-who never let her win-and listening to his stories about hunting adventures out West.  She was blessed to also live with her Grandmother Hazel and still shares her love of maple nut ice cream and Harlequin Romance novels.  At Ohio University, Mary studied Gerontology and became a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.  Her professional career has included Admissions, Marketing, Community Education and outreach, Social service, and the billing department.  Mary's focus has been teamwork and customer service and using storytelling to improve the quality of lives of the people in our facilities. 

 

Mary has also been a full-time caregiver to both parents and was on the hospice journey with her "very best friend in the whole entire world" Dawn Kovack.  When it comes to caregiver stress, she is a survivor who can help others on their journey towards balance and peace.  As both a professional and personal caregiver, Mary works to improve quality of care, communication, and life for all our long-term care residents and assisted living residents.  Mary is a dynamic, well-respected speaker and trainer, a certified grief group facilitator, a funeral celebrant, coach and storyteller.   Mary enjoys working with residents and their caregivers and provides entertaining and educational programming for residents of long term care, assisted living, and senior housing.
